About the Taste of Love Festival

The Taste of Love Festival

“Tantra is freedom; freedom from all mind-constructs, from all mind-games; freedom from all structures; freedom from the other. Tantra is space to be. Tantra is liberation, a total orgasm of the whole being.”
— Osho

The Taste of Love Festival features an international, national and local line up of presenters on the topics of awakening, love and consciousness and is scheduled to debut in Byron Bay, 20 – 22 April 2018 for the third time after it’s first successful debut in February 2016.

Building on the momentum created by the 2017 Taste of Love Festival, Byron locals Marion Ellyard and her team are joining forces again to create something special and unique for 2018.

They are bringing together the ingredients for an event that aims to appeal to a wide cross section of the community, including a range of presenters from around the world offering sessions exploring various aspects of love, relating, consciousness, sacredness, connection, sensuality, sexuality, yoga, meditation and a diverse range of associated topics.

“We are very mindful to balance the presentations around love, relating and conscious sexuality in a way that is meaningful and approachable for anyone, no matter their background or previous knowledge” Marion noted. “It is important to us that this event offers a safe and fun way for people to approach this material and understand what it is all about. Our European Peers have been involved in festivals like these for a lot longer and it’s nice to offer this to the local community of Byron Bay, national and international visitors from all over the world.”

‘Why I see an immense value in this festival is because our life force energy, also often referred to as ki, chi, serpent energy, can lay dormant at the base of our spine or be only be partially activated. Once activated we can experience immense flow of energy, enthusiasm, vision and joy for life and others. This is why we work with sexual energy throughout the festival as it often helps to activate this dormant energy, also referred to as kundalini energy. This energy can be used creatively in whatever way we want. Removing shame, fear or misconceived ideas around this topic in a world where unfortunately most teenagers still get most of their sexual education online and from pornographic material. We are facing a 50% divorce rate worldwide and broken families. This work is all about strengthening and deepening relationships to self and others in body, mind and spirit. We do offer workshops that are more ‘edgy’, meaning they embrace emotional expression, experience, honesty and openness to speak about and intimacy and taboo topics.”

Marion organizes ongoing events in the local area together with Ron van Twuiver, is a passionate mother and works as a counsellor in Suffolk Park specialising in trauma release work, love and relationship coaching. “It is very important to me that we use this festival as an opportunity to deepen the conversation around healthy relating, radical honesty, finding our true selves, our identity and purpose and include our sexuality in this conversation. To know this area sometimes gets pushed under the carpet and yet holds the key to unleashing our life force and using it healthily in so many wonderful ways. It is also important for us to create an event that not only showcases the leading edge of conscious relating and sexuality movement, but to hold a safe, inclusive, space for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression. It’s worth an exploration if you are curious and it’s nice to have so many people return back each year for more. I feel very privileged to present this annual event.”

“We feel that within society in generally, and especially in this area people have higher expectations for their relationships around love, family, purpose and self expression. There is an active enquiry and conversation around relating nowadays everywhere and we want to support this process and help to be part of the human evolution in the areas of full embodiment, love and consciousness. For example, people want to know how to be more ecstatic in their daily lives, how to be more connected to a larger sense of self and not just living small in the world. They want to be able to communicate openly and honestly with their partners and share their deepest desires, and to be truly themselves, able to show vulnerability and live from the heart without fear of judgment. That’s what ‘Taste of Love’ is about” Marion continued. “People also want to know how to be happy and fulfilled as individuals in long term relationships while maintaining their authenticity. They want to be able to integrate their sexuality and spirituality alongside raising a loving family, having meaning, commitment and purpose in their communities and dealing with the stresses of every day life. All this is a lot more real when we come back to ourselves, reconnect with our body, create a harmony within and reawaken the life force to stream through us so we can feel it. This is actually possible.”

“We’re really excited with the success of this year’s event and the overwhelming positive feedback we have received, that we are offering something truly appreciated, fun, free and deep. Something that is wanted by the community.” Marion concluded. “It’s a feast for the senses, a wonderful mix of interesting and vibrant people coming together, performances, laughter, dance, experiences and deep sharing. We offer lightness, fun and enjoyment with an incredible program, celebrations, 100% local and organic food provided by Veet Cuisine next year. We also offer local accommodation discounts in Byron Bay so participants can stay close to the event and be together.”

The Location

The conference will be held again in the centrally located Byron Community Centre over Friday, Saturday and Sunday and feature 3 streams and 2 evening events. We are planning to have 27 workshops spaces of 1.5-2 hr length presented by local, national and international leading speakers in this field. The workshop or presentation spaces can either cater for 40, 80 or 250 people.

The Mission

The mission is to bring more love, better understanding and empowerment to the individual. Communities are strengthened if the individual is free, responsible and happy. Through quality education and heart touching experiences we uncover a whole new world of verbal and non-verbal communications skills which lead to longer lasting joy and ecstasy in our lives.

The Vision

The vision for the upcoming festival is to bring in a large community of different types of people that are interested to receive quality education and information about sex, spirituality and relationships. This event is aimed at rediscovering our connection with healing relationships, communication skills and rediscovering our free natural sexual spiritual loving self.

We are affiliated with ISTA in the sense that much of this work is grounded in the evolving work of the ISTA community.

ISTA is part of a global transformational movement where human consciousness is being opened to its source as love and harmoniously integrating with other sentient kingdoms and dimensions. In particular ISTA works with spirituality and sexuality as two expressions of the life force. Our vision is a world where humans have a peaceful, delightful, shameless, fearless and loving relationship with their own bodies, sexuality, emotions, hearts, minds and spirit.
